I think I've just always disliked it for being alone every year...not even having friends to hang out with or anything...and the one year I thought my Aunt would be around to share the loathing, she got a date. And ended up marrying the guy, the next Valentine's Day actually...who she now argues with all the time and he mentally abuses her. So I suppose I've just had bad experiences with this day.

Comedians make a living ‎being politically incorrect with their "off-colour" jokes and have been slammed for years ‎by P.C. advocates for their use of words and stereotypes in their comedies.‎

Such as calling chinese people nippers, it's just plan ignorant, but at the same time I see nothing wrong with calling a gay person just that. In all honesty, as long as the words are not derogatory, or meant in a mean way, political correctness really just allows an opportunity for more people to be insulted.

2006-02-17 [RabidSphinx]: exactly. see i agree with you there. calling a black person "black" is not derogatory unless it's *context* is meant as such. calling one a nigger or negro is not alright...but it shouldn't be a matter of "political correctness" but just respect. i mean, if you described me as being "white" i would take no offence, but call me a "cracker" and i'll knock your teeth out. so it's the same no matter who you are, it's just respect and consideration for another's feelings. if you meet *one* gay person that doesn't like being called "gay" then take that into consideration when talking to that ONE person, not *every*one you meet that is gay from then on.

Same as I hate the word Fag or Faggot, because of the origin of the term, which most people who use the word don't even know, yet some people don't mind it at all.

Very rarely does a gay person get upset about being called gay (unless they're simply uncomfortable with themselves/haven't "come out of the closet" so to speak), and I've known a lot of "black" people who get upset about being called "African American". It's ridiculous.
